Bedul Bridge (Lawrence, MA)

bedulThe Bedul Bridge spans the Spicket River on Daisy and Spruce Streets.  Theodore F. Bedul, 20 years old,  served with Company B of the 182nd Infantry Division of the National Guard.  He was on active duty during the 1936 flood of the Merrimack River and became ill, eventually dying April 5, 1936 at Lawrence General Hospital. His commanding officer Lt. Edward J. Higgins donated blood to Private Bedul to no avail. He lived with his family at 41 Bruce Street and his company attended the funeral at Holy Trinity Church.
