Saunders School (Lawrence, MA)

The original Saunders School building was built in 1850 and located at the corner of Broadway and Andover Street. It was moved to the site where the home of Daniel Saunders, one of the city’s early mayors, was located. His home, one of the original dwellings in the area that would become Lawrence, was said to be a stop on the Underground Railroad. The school was rebuilt in the form you see here in 1874. The current Saunders School was built in the 20th century in the same location. It is condominiums.
