Frodyma Square (Lawrence, MA)

Frodyma MemorialFrodyma Square, located at the intersection of Haverhill and Union Streets, is named after Private Louis Frodyma who lived nearby on Summer Street. Pfc. Frodyma had been employed at the Bolta Company in Lawrence before enlistment in 1942. He was the first president of the Ampol Club (a Polish American fraternity). He died May 17, 1945 in Germany of a short illness just days after the end of the war in Europe. The square was named after Frodyma when the Ampol Club requested the designation from the City Council shortly after the war.
