Morgan, Fred (1843-1916)

There are two collections attributed to Mr. Morgan.  One is a diary; the other includes personal papers.

Frederick A. Morgan was born in Dexter, Maine ca. 1843.  He is listed in the 1868 City Directory as a driver, SFE Atlantic who boarded at 26 Garden Street, Lawrence, Mass.  Atlantic appears to mean the Atlantic Steamer Engine House #2 of the Lawrence Fire Department.  This Engine House was located on Garden Street.  John C. Webster was the foreman for that house in 1868.  In 1898 he was a combination driver at Engine House 6, a permanent fireman, aged 55, badge number 113, and had worked for the department 22 years.  He retired in 1901, but continued to live in Lawrence.  Mr. Morgan died February 8, 1916 at the family home in Dexter, Maine.
