Clippings in the scrapbook cover the hurricane of 1938 in New England with some hand written notes and parts of a special edition of the newspaper on glossy paper showing various businesses and institutions in the Greater Lawrence area (ca. 1940).  Included are: Arlington Trust Company, Cold Spring Brewing Co., Lawrence Savings Bank, Essex Savings Bank, Lawrence Gas and Electric Co., Community Savings Bank, Municipal Filtration Plant, modern industrial City (aerial view), Treat Hardware, Bolta Company, Meadow Brook Soft Water Laundry, Lawrence Street Congregational Church, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Grace Episcopal Church, First Calvary Baptist Church, St. Anne’s Catholic Church, St. Laurence-O’Toole Catholic Church, Phillips Academy, Shawsheen Village, Glennie’s Dairy, Diamond Spring Brewery, American Institute of Laundering, Lawrence Municipal Airport, Recreation center, views of Essex Street, Pacific Mills employees on their way to the 1940 New York’s World Fair, Abbot Academy, and the water tower.
