Kimball, Walter Milton (1882-1952)

kimballThe items in this collection include: a Lawrence High School diploma dated June 25, 1902 for Walter Milton Kimball (48 x 38 cm.); gold a coral pin in a diamond shape “Lawrence High School” on the edges, “1902” in gold across a coral diamond, “W. M. K.” inscribed on the back (2.5 x 1.5 cm.); and A Wantonoit Club certificate declaring that “Frederick Milton Kimball has qualified as a member of the Wantonoit Club Camp Lawrence through his ability to recognize and name two hundred natural objects as indicated upon the margin hereof” (27 x 22 cm0 and dated July 27, 1921

Walter Milton Kimball was born April 27, 1882 in Lawrence, Mass.  He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1902 and immediately (on graduation day) started working in his father’s food distribution company, M. I. Kimball & Co.  Walter and his brother, Herbert, ran the business at 387 Methuen Street until Walter retired in 1948, but remained active in the business until his death in 1952.  Frederick Milton Kimball was one of his two sons.

Camp Lawrence was run by the Lawrence YMCA.
