There are seven photographs in this collection, black and white images are mounted on light colored matte. The names of the photographers are signed on the front. There is other information written on the back. The poetry anthology is also included. These photographs are the product of a photography program run in the Lawrence Public Schools entitled “Fire and Ice: environmental awareness through the arts.” This was a Title IV-C innovative arts program. It ran from 1979-1982 using visual and performing arts to explore nature, environment, and energy concepts. The program was available to students in K-8. Lawrence history was highlighted through field trips and two original plays – one on local Indian lore and the other concerning the Strike of 1912 – created, produced, and performed by students with help from a theater company, Just around the Corner Theater Company.
