Everett Mills (Lawrence, MA)

3510008This stock certificate is printed on gray paper (10.5 x 8 inches).  It is the 6169th stock certificate to the Everett Mills of Lawrence, Mass.  The certificate is made out to Hines, Robertson & Co. and is in the amount of 3 shares.  It is dated Jan. 18, 1932.  It is signed by both the treasurer and the president.

The Everett Mills was incorporated in 1860.  It produced dress goods, gingham, and a variety of cotton products.  The mills boasted 52,000 spindles in the later years of the 19th century.  During 1909-10 a brick mill was added to the original stone buildings.  At this time the mill had spread over 17 acres and encompassed 12 acres of floor space.  In the 2nd decade of the 20th century the plant had 143,296 spindles and 24,608 looms. The mills employed 2000 people.  In 1923 Everett Mills had $2,100,000 in capital.
