The Lawrence Public Library Special Collections welcomes you to its catablog.  The Special Collections has over 300 collections including manuscripts, archives, photographs, maps, audio and video material, and ephemera.  All materials are available in the Local History reading room on the third floor of the main library at 51 Lawrence Street.

Mission Statement

The Special Collections Department seeks to acquire, make accessible, and preserve original and published material in these subject areas: Lawrence and Merrimack Valley history, textile industry, labor, immigration, ethnic groups represented in the Merrimack Valley, and local genealogy.  The Special Collections consists of Archives, manuscripts, monographs, periodicals, newspapers (both microfilm and hard copy), museum objects, posters, photographs, and ephemera.  The preservation priorities for the collections are focused on environment, preservation, and administration.
