The Lawrence Public Library, in collaboration with the Friends of the Lawrence Public Library and other local organizations, is planning a City Wide Read which will attempt to include the entire city of Lawrence, Massachusetts reading one book: Bread and Roses, too by Katherine Paterson. The book is a young adult fictional account of the Lawrence Textile Workers’ Strike of 1912. Beside the event discribed above other activities include:
- April 30 6:00 PM book discussion with the author
- May 1 discussion with the author 8:00 CentralCatholic High School
- May 1 Read aloud 2-7 PM “Short Pay! All Out!” exhibit 6th floor Everett Mill drawing for books bags (We will need refreshments, volunteers to run this, and readers)
- May 2 10:00 AM auditorium Lawrence Public Library “Meet the author”
- Other discussions to be scheduled.
